Girls' Frontline 2 Platoons and Gunsmoke Frontline
Guild unlock at Commander 20, why you should join instead of found, and how Outpost and Decisive Battles score.
A Platoon in Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium is the guild layer. It is not a second campaign and it is not a live drop-in fireteam. You still play your own maps. The Platoon exists so Daily Patrol, Supply crates, Reputation, and Gunsmoke Frontline have a shared scoreboard and a shop. Join one at Commander level 20. Skip founding one unless you actually want to manage tags, emblems, and inactivity.
If you are not level 20 yet, stay on Getting Started and farming and resources. Platoon content does not replace Combat Reports. It adds Collapse Pieces, Reputation, and a reason to keep a second and third squad built.
Join versus create
Commander level 20 is the gate for both joining and creating. Search by name or ID and request an invite, or spend Collapse Pieces (200 at launch, always check the live prompt) to found a Platoon. Founding is a vanity tax for most players. Those Pieces are tickets. Tickets are gacha. Join a group that already runs Patrol and Gunsmoke.
Leaders set the name, emblem, and tags. Member caps start in the mid-20s and climb as the Platoon levels through Construction Points. Points come from members completing Daily Patrol and Gunsmoke, not from a donation slider. Higher Platoon level unlocks more member slots, better Daily Supplies, extra Reputation from Patrol, and attack bonuses that apply inside Gunsmoke only.
Leave and rejoin rules exist so you cannot hop every night for crates. Pick a group that speaks your language and actually starts Gunsmoke windows. An empty 50-member list is worse than a 24-member list that clears Patrol.
Daily Patrol and Platoon Supply
Daily Patrol is a short fight scaled to your Commander Level. Complete it once a day. It pays Collapse Pieces, Reputation, and Construction Points. Autobattle becomes available after you understand the map; the enemies are not the point. Missing Patrol is the most expensive “I forgot” in the guild layer.
Platoon Supply is the crate row: daily supplies, Patrol supplies, and Gunsmoke supplies as the Platoon ranks up. Claim them. They expire. Reputation then buys shop items, including the long-running Papasha / Svarog exchange that lets members push that Elite and her weapon through Fortification and Calibration with guild currency instead of limited banners. That shop is why joining at 20 is worth it even if you never care about the Gunsmoke ranking screenshot.
Support Dolls from other members can be invited on Patrol and Gunsmoke maps. You are borrowing a built unit as an NPC-style helper, not opening a shared session. Bring a helper when your own bench is thin; do not use that as an excuse to leave your Support unbuilt forever. Team comps still apply to your three echelons.
Gunsmoke Frontline
Gunsmoke Frontline is the competitive PvE season for Platoons. It runs on a schedule (commonly a week on, a week off — confirm the current patch timer). Each Commander gets two Battle Participation Opportunities per day, with a third available for Collapse Pieces if you are chasing rank. Spend the free two. Think hard about the paid third.
Two map types:
- Outpost Battles — available as soon as you can enter Gunsmoke. Wave and elite-pack maps scaled around Commander Level. Points come from kills, remaining HP, and turn efficiency. This is where most of the roster lives until 60.
- Decisive Battles — unlock at Commander level 60. Boss-burn maps with a turn limit. Points come from damage dealt to the boss bar, not from mopping trash. Bring the phase the boss is weak to, break Stability, and stop treating it like a story node you can stall.
Gunsmoke scoring is a facing and tile test under a clock. Cover, Stability Index, melee ignores, and (since 27 August 2026) Tile Transformation all apply. Read combat and tiles if your Outpost runs stall on a shielded pack. Fusion tiles such as Smoldering Suspire and Venomfire are legal tools here, not event-only toys.
Platoon-level attack bonuses (area damage, targeted damage, and later raw attack) only exist on these maps. They will not carry your campaign. They will make a built squad look unfair against an equal-level pickup group. That is intended.
What to build for Gunsmoke
You eventually want three deployable echelons, not one god squad and a bench of level 1s. Outpost maps and later seasons ask you to cover more than a single phase. Practical order:
- One story Sentinel plus a Support you already use in campaign.
- A second phase so you are not shooting into an elemental wall.
- A Bulwark or melee Vanguard who can ignore or break Stability on Decisive bosses.
Borrow a member Support Doll to fill a hole for a week. Do not borrow a member’s entire identity. Best Dolls and the DPS tier list will over-rank limited names that you may not own; Gunsmoke rewards the Dolls you actually expanded with Stock Boost Bars. Papasha is a common Platoon-shop physical option; she is a specialist, not a reason to skip your main Sentinel.
Keys, Vertebrae, and attachments still follow the same farming rules. Gunsmoke does not drop extra Transcription Conductors just because the map is named louder. Keep the daily checklist as the reminder to run Patrol, claim crates, and then spend Intelligence Puzzles on Helix nodes.
When to wait, and when to show up
Wait to create a Platoon until you have friends who will log in. Wait to sweat Decisive until Commander 60 and a second built squad. Do not wait to join. Level 20 plus Patrol is free currency. Chiral Redundancy’s event track also wants Commander 20 for its story shop, so the same week you enter Platoon you are probably entering Chiral Redundancy content too. OTs-14 is the current limited face of that patch; Soppo follows on 17 September 2026. Neither banner is a Platoon unlock. They are just the Dolls you might later field on Outpost maps.
A good Platoon in Exilium is a crate machine with a weekly boss photo. Log in, shoot Patrol, spend two Gunsmoke entries, claim Reputation, log out. The commander who treats it as a second job burns Collapse Pieces on extra entries; the commander who treats it as optional leaves Pieces and bars on the table. Join once, set a reminder, and let Construction Points happen in the background.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers commanders actually search for.
When can I join a Platoon?
Commander level 20. Joining an existing Platoon does not spend Collapse Pieces. Creating one does. Finish the early Getting Started checklist first.
What is Gunsmoke Frontline?
The Platoon’s competitive PvE season. Outpost Battles are wave maps; Decisive Battles are level-60 boss burns. You get two entries per day. Points go to the Platoon ranking and to your Reputation.
Is a Platoon required to finish the story?
No. Story, Supply nodes, and gacha all work without one. You still want a Platoon at 20 for Daily Patrol crates, Reputation, and the Papasha shop line.
Should I spend Collapse Pieces to create a Platoon or buy extra Gunsmoke entries?
Usually no. Pieces convert to pulls at 150 each. Join a live group and spend the two free Gunsmoke entries. Extra entries and founding costs are for people who already have ticket stock. See gacha and pity.
Do I need three full teams on day one of Gunsmoke?
No. Enter Outpost with your campaign squad and a borrowed Support Doll if needed. Build a second phase while you farm resources. Decisive at 60 is when the bench actually matters.
